About the Team

UCSB Triathlon is a competitive club sport team. The team is open to undergrads, grads, and the entire UCSB community as well as the SBCC student body. Whether you are a newcomer or a competitive veteran there is a place for you on the squad.

UCSB Triathlon has a full time coach and structured daily group training for all levels. We swim long course, cycle in group trainer sessions, run on the track and take advantage of the phenomenal weather, mountains, beach and trails for training that is always fresh and fun.

The team is also a strong social group with three "triathlon houses," regular get-togethers, camping trips, and other adventures. In addition to daily training the team has regularly coached clinics ranging from swim technique to racing transitions to bike safety and handling.

The team has weekly meetings open to visitors and newcomers. Our meetings include team business, coaching, and guest speakers.

We are a year round team, racing from February to April at distances from sprint to Olympic. Last year, our men were West Coast Conference Champions, our women were third, and as a team, we claimed ninth at USAT Collegiate National Championships. We also had the largest team at Nationals, a testament to our team's unity and inclusiveness.

A Message from UCSB Triathlon Head Coach Mateo

The UCSB Triathlon Team is having a fantastic summer! With at least one new member inquiry per week and an incredibly strong incoming class the team is continuing to experience growth in quantity and quality.

This summer we've restructured the training to give it a bit more of a recreational feel. The cycling has been social while retaining a focus on progressive development and challenge. We've also incorporated more ocean swimming. The team is also racing more this summer, taking on the Santa Barbara Semana Nautica series with gusto.

As Coach, I will submit a weekly update on what's new in our training and what is coming up for us in training, racing, and other fun.

As always...

HOOK IT UP!!!

MATEO!
