About the Team
UCSB Club Field Hockey is becoming increasingly popular among UCSB students. It is a fun and competitive sport. The team includes players who have played for 15 years and others who are just beginning. Last year, UCSB Field Hockey won the State Championship to become the "Best in the West." The team also took 3rd place in the women's competitive division at the California Cup tournament. The season runs from September to late November. Pre-season starts around September 1. Freshmen are encouraged to come and stay with returners on the team during pre-season. The team has games every weekend (except Halloween) and travel as far as Chico. In the spring, the team practices for the Cal Cup tournament. During this time, the season is more relaxed and is a good time for beginners to learn the sport. Joining the field hockey team will make your UCSB experience tons of fun and is a great way to have fun playing a sport and make new friends!

Coaches Bios
Jeb Saez and Lauren Hess are the UCSB Field Hockey’s current coaches. Jeb has been playing field hockey since the 2nd grade. He attended San Diego State University and was the goalie of the Men’s National Field Hockey team. Lauren Hess attended Michigan State University and played on their NCAA team. Both Jeb and Lauren are excellent coaches. Jeb is very patient and is genuinely interested in helping each player discover her strengths in order to succeed. Our coaches are highly experienced and are excited to pass on their knowledge our team! We are lucky to have them!
