Student Athletic Training Internship

The Recreational Sports Athletic Training Internship Program offers a unique experience for students, including hands on training and educational in-services. The internship is ideal for those students looking for an opportunity to further their knowledge in sports medicine in areas such as injury evaluation, management, and rehabilitation.

No experience is necessary, however all students are required to become CPR and First-Aid certified shortly after acceptance into the program in order to start working with athletes. All students will follow a path to best fit their goals while maintaining a high standard of progress and professionalism.

Year 1: Beginner Level

 

  • Minimum of 4 hours/week of volunteer time in the training room
  • Maintain 1st Year in-services
  • Begin Game coverage to show responsibility and dedication

Year 2: Intermediate Level

  • Minimum of 4-6 hours/week and weekly in-services
  • Assignment to one of the Club Sports Teams
  • Game/ Tournament Coverage
  • Required to assist with 1st year in-services
  • Required to complete 150 supervised hours

Year 3 & 4: Advanced Level

 

  • Minimum of 6-10 hours per week and weekly in-services
  • Administrative Responsibly
  • Possible Game/Project compensation
  • Required to assist lower level in-services
  • Team assignment to one or more of the UCSB Club Sports Teams
  • Required to complete 300 supervised hours
